Inside Zara Phillips Royal Wedding

The Queen’s eldest (and reportedly favourite) granddaughter Zara Phillips said “I do” to her longtime love English rugby captain Mike Tindall on Saturday in Edinburgh, Scotland at Canongate Kirk. The pair wanted a private and intimate affair, the complete antithesis of Zara’s cousin William’s nuptials and with the exception of the royal and celebrity studded guest list and a few thousand well wishers on the city streets, the wedding was a pretty quiet one.

Inside Zara Phillips Royal Wedding

The Dress

Heading into Zara’s wedding weekend, the buzz was that the bride was wearing a dress by Stewart Parvin, a design favourite of her grandmother. The sometimes style rebel chose a traditional Parvin gown straight from the rack of the White Room boutique, a local shop near hear home in Gloucestershire. Design highlights of ivory silk faille and silk duchess satin gown included a chevron-pleated bodice, drop-waist and short cathedral-length train which gave the dress a bell-shaped silhouette. Also of note: Zara's dress had a delicate cap sleeve. Trust us, thanks to Zara and the Duchess of Cambridge sleeves are on the rise...amen to that!

The Accessories

Though Zara does not have a royal title (her mother Princess Anne chose not to give one to Zara and or brother Peter Phillips), she is 13th in line to the throne and with that royal lineage has access to some serious crown jewels. Zara wore her mother’s Greek Key diamond tiara, topped with a billowy tulle veil (tip: veils are THE accessory of 2011).

The Beauty Look

An award-winning equestrian, Zara is an outdoorsy girl who prefers a natural look. Bobbi Brown makeup was the perfect wedding day choice for her.  Her hair was twisted into a simple chignon, all the better to showcase that glittering tiara.

The Groom

Mike Tindall matched Zara’s royal style arriving with his boys at the church decked in a natty black morning suit. Boutonnière’s were simple white carnations. Tindall’s best accessory: chewing gum. He was spotted chewing when he arrived at the church and while waiting outside for guests to arrive. We’ll chalk that up to nerves.

The Reception

After the church ceremony, Zara and Mike hosted a reception at the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the Queen’s official residence in Scotland. Buzz has it the party last into the wee, wee hours of Sunday morning. Was Harry handing out bacon butties again? Afterall he was the matchmaker that introduced the pair to each other!

Zara Is NOT Mrs. Tindall

The seemingly big shocker announced just hours ahead of the wedding was that Zara would not be taking Mike’s last name, but keep her maiden name for professional reasons. We never suspected she would do otherwise.
