Happy Canada Day!

In honour of Canada's birthday I thought I'd pay homage to this pretty Canadian-inspired wedding cake from Sweet Things. Here's a brief description behind the makings of this confection:

The couple wanted to incorporate their different cultural background into the cake. The bride is from Hong Kong which is the flag design on the bottom tier. The groom is Portuguese and Korean which is the flags design on the next two tiers. And a gumpaste Canadian Flag on top. They also have a love for pandas which was the sugarpaste topper.

Completely love how this cake is such a great symbol of how Canada is a wonderful place filled with a multitude of cultures, er sans the pandas, but they're cute too!
