In 2013, the Hauser family bought a plot of land 30 minutes outside Calgary and turned it into their own family-run farm, complete with a massive organic garden, 70 laying hens, two goats, a lamb and six dogs.
After one of their daughters got married on the property, they realized it made a perfectly bucolic venue, and installed a giant glass tent that can fit 140 guests, with long harvest tables, glittery chandeliers and a hardwood dance floor. Most of the ingredients in the buffet or family style menu are sourced from the property and neighbouring farms, making digging into stacked salads under the stars an exceptionally authentic experience (plus, you can bring in your own booze, sans corkage fee).
These days, it’s a tricky venue to snag—they’re currently accepting bookings for the summer of 2020.
