Day 30: A Royal Cocktail

  |   By Nicole Keen

Can you believe it's already been 70 days since we first started our Royal Wedding countdown? We're officially 30 days away from the main event, and here at Weddingbells we're kicking things into high gear---Alison will be in London for the wedding bringing us on-the-ground coverage (read more about her U.K. adventure here)! Are you planning on celebrating the nuptials of William and Kate? We recently received a press release from Charlotte Voisey, a mixologist for William Grant & Sons, who created some signature cocktails in celebration of the monarchy's ties to Canada, and we can't think of a better way to toast the newlyweds.

Day 30: A Royal Cocktail

The aptly named "Commonwealth Celebration" (see recipe below) combines traditional Irish whiskey with a dash of maple syrup---the perfect Canadian touch. Having a mixologist create a custom cocktail for your wedding reception is something to consider---a personalized beverage is a welcome addition to the usual wine and beer.

"Commonwealth Celebration"

Ingredients

1 1/2 oz (45 mL) Tullamore Dew Irish Whiskey

1 oz (30 mL) Dubonnet Rouge

1/2 oz (15 mL) Apricot Brandy

1/4 oz (10 mL) maple syrup

Method

Combine ingredients and stir well

Strain into a stemmed cocktail glass

Garnish with an orange spiral
