Darling Dahlias

  |   By Amber Richman

A delicate flower that is perfect for a mid-summer's wedding, dahlias come in a stunning variety of colours, as well as offer a bloom full of petals, for brides who love the full body floral look.

Darling Dahlias

The couple I designed this wedding for loved the dahlias luxurious look. I used them in every arrangement and exclusively in the bride's bouquet! The centrepieces were a tight hand-tied of hydrangea, dahlias, lisianthus and orchids, and placed into a leaf-lined vase. This design allowed guests to take home the hand-tied posies and leave the rental vase behind.  An excellent example of clever wedding budgeting, for the thinking-out-of-the-vase couples!

A dahlia's texture, colour and fullness are something to be marveled at. Why you would love to use them as part of your wedding is obvious, but just a small note of importance—they are an extremely delicate flower. You have to treat them as if they are a baby, being careful not to knock them too much. Definitely not reason enough pass on them in your wedding, but rather a friendly florist word of caution.
