Last week I had the pleasure of meeting Bakerella–the maker behind the ever-so-popular cake pops. Inspired by her sweet idea, I decided to venture into that direction myself and try out the recipe for fun. The result? Well, let's just say they were gobbled up in seconds by my friends and co-workers. Ever since then I've gotten questions about how to make them, where to buy the chocolate, etc. etc. For tips and tricks on how to create the perfect cake pops, I suggest getting a copy of Bakerella's Cake Pop book, which is jam-packed with useful info on how to make fun pops:
However, for those of you looking for a basic recipe, Bakerella does a great job of explaining the "how-to" here.
As for where I got my candy chocolates and sticks, Michael's has a pretty good supply of both the lollipop sticks and wafers. Or, if there's a Bulk Barn in your neighbourhood, you'll find tons of supply there. Happy baking!
P.s. These would make AWESOME wedding favours, just be sure to NOT make these the day before your wedding or by yourself, as they take a couple of hours to make.
