Apparently Even A Royal Wedding Guest List Needs Trimming Too!

  |   By Alison McGill

The day after Prince William and Catherine Middleton announced their engagement, Buckingham Palace officials handed William a suggested guest list of 777 people—dignitaries, governors, and heads of state, but not one person he knew. “These are the people we should invite,” William was told. In an exclusive interview with Britain’s Daily Mail reporter Robert Hardman, William reveals he looked at the list in horror and said “I think we should start again.”

Sound As a Pound Royal Advice

If you’re having trouble getting your guest list in check, known that it is one of the biggest challenges facing couples, even royal ones like William and Kate. In William’s case, the resolve for the problem came from a source you may be surprised to learn: his gran. It was the Queen herself who William turned to help sort his guest list dilemma and her advice to the future kind was sound words you too should heed. Says William: ‘I rang her up the next day and said: “Do we need to be doing this” And she said: “No. Start with your friends first then go from there.” And she told me to bin the list.’

At 85 years old and on the cusp of her Diamond Jubilee marking 60 years on the British throne in 2011, the Queen definitely has seen it all and we love her sweet and simple wedding advice to her grandson. HRH is one sage and savvy sovereign.
