This July (we hope!) will see the release of Top Gun 2: Maverick which has us looking back on the original 1986 Tom Cruise film and it seems we are not the only ones. Photographer Leanne Sim and the creative team behind this styled shoot were inspired by the OG film and imagined a continued love story between Maverick and Charlie (Kelly McGillis).
Sims shares the idea for this shoot all started with the perfect venue—Airside Spaces located at the Abbotsford International Airport in Vancouver. This was the perfect spot to create an imagined intimate wedding for Maverick and Charlie. “Each detail of the shoot was designed to embrace a little Southern California style with sharp edgy elements and just a touch of an ‘80s vibe,” Sims says. “The colour palette brings the sleek fighter jet vibe with a passionate punch of red. The show stopping ceremony step up really does take our breath away bringing the sleek lines and colour to represent a fighter jet, along with the top gun pub-inspired appetizers and cocktails. We created this shoot to play off of the sequel film movie coming out this summer and had great fun doing it!”
