Swapping flowers for plants is one of the hottest wedding trends and air plants, in particular, have become especially popular in the industry this year. These easy-to-assemble DIY wedding favours come together in a matter of minutes and they can also double as place cards for your guests.
In terms of supplies, you’ll find air plants and moss at most nurseries (Etsy is also a good option) and steamer baskets are readily available at Walmart and most Asian markets. Coloured twine can be found on Etsy and wood veneer is available to order from Lee Valley.
In the weeks before your wedding you’ll need to ensure you properly care for your air plants so that your favours will look their best for the big day. Keep in mind these plants require plenty of light but no soil. To water them dip the entire plant in tepid water and shake it gently to remove excess moisture.
