The name Vera Wang has long been synonymous with luxury bridal. Meticulous construction and fashion-forward details have made it the line of choice for the Carrie Bradshaws of the world, and with good reason -- no one forgets a Vera Wang wedding gown.
The historic setting used for the photography of Wang’s Fall/Winter 2018 lookbook does a lot to connote the designer’s inspiration for the collection. Shot by fashion great Patrick Demarchelier in the sprawling Jardin du Luxembourg, this season’s concept is clear: Parisian regality. A long-sleeved ball gown in delicate hand appliqué macramé lace has a fitted bodice and voluminous hips—a look worthy of Marie Antoinette. The queen may have been aghast, however, at another dress featuring a silk corset bedecked with quilt stitched details and a garter-style peplum layered over a soft tulle skirt— couture-quality undergarments worn as a wedding gown. Softness is found in the form of a macramé sheath with elbow length sleeves—a nice alternative—and sweeping tulle overlay.
