Truvelle 2016 Wedding Dresses

  |   By Kimberly Aglipay

In previous years, Truvelle's collections featured romantic gowns with delicate embellishments such as rose gold sequins. But this year, the Vancouver-based company has taken a different turn with cool-toned gowns and fuller skirts. "Put simply, I love cool colours--they evoke calm and serene feelings," says designer Gaby Bayona. "As a whole, the collection is inspired by cloudy skies and winter months."

Bayona says a cool-toned palette gives the gowns a modern feel. She also believes cooler tones will be the next direction in bridal wear. "When people started straying away from the white gown, they went for warm shades of blushes and creams," Bayona says. "Cool tones have the crispness of white, but with a modern edge." Her favourite gown? The Alexandra. "My favourite part of the process is fabric sourcing, and Alexandra's smoke chiffon and white, beaded lace were the most memorable fabrics I found this year."

The 2016 collection is available via Truvelle's Etsy shop starting September 10, 2015.
