The Top Wedding Dress Trends For Fall 2018

Bridal Fashion Week has just wrapped up in New York City and we were completely dazzled by the new collections that came down the runways.

2018 brides will be spoiled for choice with a wide range of modern silhouettes and chic adornments -- like beading, bows and gorgeous texture -- taking centre stage for Fall 2018.

To bring the hottest new looks to life, we enlisted the help of ultra-talented fashion illustrator Stephanie Anne, who set to work sketching out the top wedding dress trends for the year ahead on her iPad Pro using Apple Pencil and the app Procreate.

See each trend come alive by pressing play on the images below.

Bare Shoulders Shoulders are still on full display this season with off-the-shoulder necklines that are ultra-femme. One of our favourite dresses of the shows was this Galia Lahav beauty for its elevated boho vibe.

Intricate Beading Dazzling details are giving even the simplest dresses a megawatt effect. One of our favourite examples was seen on the Pronovias runway—a slinky column dress with delicate and dazzling beaded sleeves that stole the show.

Sophisticated Sheerness The naked dress has become a little more demure this season and this gown by Berta is a perfect example of the trend. Accents like 3D flowers, beading and feathers create an illusion of coverage.

Bows This trend kicked off last bridal season and continues to grow. Accent bows adorn everything from shoulder straps and sleeves to hemlines, backs, veils and waistlines like this beauty seen at Inbal Dror.

Capes Capes continue to be the coverall of choice for designers and can be seen in every incarnation from sheer body veils to jewel-encrusted masterpieces like this magnificent cape layered over a sexy jumpsuit at Ines Di Santo.

Puffy Sleeves The biggest bridal trend of the '80s has returned with a vengeance this bridal season. Oversized sleeves and puffed shoulders were seen on virtually every designer runway. This amazing Marchesa gown keeps the trend chic and sexy.

Textured Skirting Tiers, ruffles, rosettes and tulle hearts are just a few of the amazing skirt adornments we spotted on the runways. We love how these amazing textures give dresses extra swoosh—this Viktor & Rolf creation is an absolute dream.

Luxe Lace This perennial bridal staple has gone completely over-the-top for Fall 2018 thanks to luxury finishes like this gorgeous gold seen at Reem Acra.

Fit and Flare This universally-flattering dress shape was in full effect on several runways but nobody did it better than Lela Rose. Our favourite version of the trend was a peplum pantsuit with bow-festooned sleeves.

Pretty Princess Looks Monique Lhuillier is the reigning queen of timeless bridal gowns that are both elegant and modern. This lace beauty exemplifies a modern princess vibe that’s clean, classic and uptown chic.
