For Theia's spring 2018 collection, creative director Don O'Neill was inspired by the beauty and opalescence of pearls. "Their unique properties imbue strength of spirit, integrity and purity," O'Neill says. "I was fascinated by the subtle colours, from barely-there blues and soft blush pinks, to touches of grey swirling inside the ivory and whites of their nacre." These colours inspired the interchangeable slip linings available for several of the dresses, in ivory, blush, cloud blue and nude. It was also a must to include pearl embroidery on many of the signature hand-beaded gowns.
The collection continues to evoke Theia's signature relaxed, carefree style by including the right touches of simplicity and whimsy, from body-hugging gowns with flowing sleeves to satin floral applique dresses. Sophistication is added with off-the-shoulder lace and crepe gowns with crystal-garland shoulder wraps. We were instantly swept away by the first dress that hit the runaway, a blue strapless Chantilly lace dream with a layered tulle skirt, complete with cherry blossom embroidery.
