Rituals of Love opened in Gastown in the fall of 2016, and is the brainchild of Samantha Hallaran, a former sales and marketing professional who, after struggling to find the right look for her own wedding, decided to give the Vancouver bridal game an injection of personalization and style. She found a stunning studio space on the second floor of a Cordova Street heritage building, and filled it with dreamy décor, cozy lounge spaces and plenty of statement mirrors. Hanging on racks are sumptuous looks that are impeccably hand-crafted, insanely fashionable and definitely don’t fit the traditional bridal mould.
Need to get married in a cropped tube-top-tutu ensemble? They got you. What about a long-sleeved gown that’s so glittery it will blind your photographers? No problem. There are also dresses for rehearsal dinners, sultry lingerie looks and bejewelled headpieces that wouldn’t be totally out of place at Burning Man. Hallaran carefully selects labels from around the world. Her criteria? Designers whose creations are slightly boho, unconventional and hard to find elsewhere. Popular brands include Australian label Bo and Luca, Israeli designer Flora and L.A. brand Odylyne the Ceremony. If you’re the type of bride who values unique personal style (and doesn’t want to sacrifice it on your wedding day), we’d recommend popping in. The space is appointment-only, and brides can expect to shell out between $3,000 and $5,000 on a gown.
