Something Bejeweled

Will a tiara fit-for-a-Queen be her crowning glory? Or will she opt for a heavenly halo of flowers?  If it were me dear reader, I would kindly ask my Granny-to-be (a.k.a Her Majesty) to have the Russian Fringe Tiara dusted off for the Big Day. Nothing says newly minted princess like a few serious statement-making gems from the family vault. When it comes time for me to walk down the aisle to my very own prince (7 weeks and counting) you can bet your crown jewels that I will be adding a dash of dazzle to my bridal look. As a card-carrying member of the International I’m-obsessed-with-jewellery club, it seems only natural that “with this bling” should factor in somewhere between “I” and “Do”. Of course, to pull off this royal glow one must be willing to forgo any major dress embellishment; beading, intricate lace details and sequins are banished in favour of miles of pristine matte satin and organza. Only then can a scene stealing extra take its rightful place in the spotlight. Cameos, pearls, rhinestones, coloured gems, even heirloom pieces passed down from generation to generation, make the glam grade.  The bolder the look, the more beautiful the bride. As the days tick down toward my impending nuptials (and those of a certain Princess-to-be), it is easy to lose sight of “me” given the growing excitement of “we”. So along with my something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue, there will be one very important addition – something bejeweled. Regardless of a signed marriage license/new surname/set of in-laws, I will always be the same girl: the one who likes to shine.
