Sleek and Simple Wedding Gowns for the Modern Bride

  |   By Monique Loveless

One of the hottest fashion trends to emerge from the runways at New York bridal market this season was the sleek and sophisticated wedding dress. Instead of over-the-top texture and detail, many designers showed clean and simple gowns that were all about luxurious fabrics and strong silhouettes. Ruffles, rosettes and bows are fabulous embellishments, but they're simply not for everyone. If you appreciate dresses that are a little more refined (think Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy's minimal wedding gown circa 1996), you'll fall in love with the simple, streamlined creations that were shown by Oscar de la Renta, Winnie Couture, Romona Keveza and Pronovias to name a few. We've selected some of our favourite sleek gowns that are perfect for the modern classic bride. These dresses by top designers are beautiful in their simplicity---think clean silhouettes and minimal embellishments. Sleek and simple designs allow you to add your own special touches by using various statement accessories. Colourful shoes or a dramatic headpiece would make for interesting additions to these sleek dresses. Not into too many accessories? No problem. These sleek wedding dresses look absolutely divine all on their own, too! Peruse our picks for the most stylish sleek and sophisticated designer gowns as you prepare to shop for the wedding dress of your dreams.
