Us mortals will now have a chance to get up-close-and-personal with the world’s most famous wedding gown. Beginning Saturday, Buckingham Palace will open the doors to the State Rooms—which the public can tour through October—and the star attraction on the palace tour this year will be Kate’s Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen wedding gown.
This is not the first time a wedding dress will be showcased on the summer tour—Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother and Queen Victoria’s gowns have all been previously displayed. No doubt Kate’s dress will be the most popular and draw record crowds. Buzz is that not only can you see the dress, but also her veil, the 1936 Cartier tiara Kate wore, her custom-crafted wedding day earrings, and her satin and lace wedding shoes also made by the McQueen team—may I point out that this will be our first actual look at the shoes! Kate and William’s wedding cake created by Fiona Cairns will also be on display in the palace’s state dining room. Rumour has it the Duchess will be on hand with the Queen tomorrow to officially open the tour. Trip to London anyone? Yes please!
