The trend I’m seeing in engagement rings these days? A return to round brilliant cut stones which was the original shape of engagement diamonds when Tiffany & Co. first introduced it’s original Tiffany Setting over 100 years ago. Though the round brilliant cut diamond has always been popular for engagements, I have noted that in recent years the square-shape princess cut eclipsed it. Thought both are equally dazzling, there is something extra special about a round diamond—it is believed this cut optimizes the fire and brilliance of a diamond.

Round Cut Radiance

A round cut diamond is a standout on it’s own, or a showstopper if designed in a vintage pave setting. Famous brilliant cut wearers include Fergie, Jenna Bush and newly engaged Natalie Portman, who’s fiancé Benjamin Millepied designed the ring using an antique round surrounded by conflict-free pave diamonds.
