Drawing inspiration from artist J.M.W Turner’s watercolour paintings, designer Rita Vinieris sought to explore the balance of light captured within Turner’s artwork through her latest Rivini collection. Sheer organza, tulle and lace dominated the runway, giving the collection a soft, romantic and ethereal feel. Layering and contrasting textures also played into Vinieris’s aesthetic, with gowns pairing delicate organza tiered skirts with striking, detailed bodices. Encapsulating this look was a stunning three-quarter sleeve ball gown with multi-layered organza and a hand-embroidered bodice. Sophisticated lace designs also appeared throughout the collection, which included a beautiful translucent five-lace gown with an airy tulle skirt. The collection also explored elements of transparency, with gowns donning elegant illusion necklines and sleeves. Brides in search of options will delight in Vinieris’s selection of classic silhouettes, including timeless ball gowns, chic mermaid fits and traditional A-lines. Necklines also varied with designs ranging from elegant, off-the-shoulder portrait styles to a gorgeous keyhole design featured on a neutral toned sheath long-sleeve gown overlaid with Chantilly lace embroidery. Vinieris’s Spring 2016 collection wouldn’t be complete without a hint of colour, which was found in the collection’s spectacular final look: a floral hand-embroidered ball gown with circular sweeping layers of stunning dawn-coloured organza.
