Athleisure has reached the world of bridalwear, thanks to Canadian designer Rita Vinieris. Her Fall/Winter 2018 runway presentation kicked of with a pair of jersey-inspired lace dresses emblazoned with the number eighteen and the names of the two collections on show: Rivini and Alyne by Rita Vinieris. Next up? Not one but three takes on the bridal pant (Gigi Hadid would approve, we’re sure.) Models wore rose gold sneakers and sporty visors decorated with tulle veils and lace appliques (perfect to re-wear with your tennis whites after your wedding day has come and gone).
Vinieris credits "the multifaceted modern woman" as her inspiration. "The silhouettes this season are new and diverse with a relaxed, yet sensual couture ease. A mix of luxurious modern fabrications either lightly skim or effortlessly sculpt the body with activewear accents." Make no mistake—this collection packs in the sex appeal. A clean satin gown features a twisted peekaboo cutout in the torso and sky-high slit in the mermaid wrap skirt. Sheer lace gowns forgo slips in place of bralettes and boy shorts. Nearly all sleeves (and there are many, be they fitted, fluttering, or flared) are dropped off the shoulders.
For brides looking to break away from white, Vinieris delivers three options: an embroidered lace ball gown in cool blue; a pale pink fit-and-flare with a waterfall ruffle; and, the finale, a corseted tulle ball gown in icy blue with pink, white, and navy beading—with a matching cape, no less.
