Continuing the Hollywood trend towards intimate, low-key weddings, Natalie Portman and Benjamin Millepied tied the knot this past weekend in Big Sur, California. The wedding ceremony took place on a bluff overlooking the ocean, and the two said “I do” beneath a rustic chuppah made of twigs. Following the vow exchange, the couple’s 100 guests (including their 14-month-old son Aleph, and fellow celebrities Ivanka Trump and Macaulay Culkin) headed to a private residence where they were treated to a vegan feast (Portman is a strict vegan) and live Klezmer music. For dessert, French macarons were served in lieu of traditional wedding cake. Guests departed around 2 a.m. with packages of wildflower seeds inscribed with the word "merci".
We absolutely love that Portman and Millepied planned a personalized wedding celebration that incorporated her Jewish faith, his French background and their eco-friendly lifestyle—in addition to serving vegan food, the couple decorated their wedding venue with indigenous wildflowers.
Another way the two made their wedding unique? Their chic, laid-back attire! Millepied wore a midnight blue tux, while Portman donned a custom creation by her friends Laura and Kate Mulleavy of Rodarte. The white tea-length wedding dress with high illusion neckline and full sleeves had a bit of a retro, Audrey Hepburn vibe, but Portman added a dash of bohemian flair with a crown of white wildflowers. Do you love her look? We’ve found some pieces that can help you recreate Portman’s sweet woodland nymph style.
