Monique Lhuillier’s Spring 2014 bridal runway show was a stunner, featuring a gorgeous array of silhouettes and styles. From short cocktail numbers for more casual affairs, to show-stopping ball gowns with billowing bustles for the ultimate fairytale wedding. Even with a diverse collection, the designer still stayed true to her signature feminine style – the collection was heavy on lace detailing, including intricate, embroidered sleeves and stunning open back silhouettes. In contrast to the collection’s ultra-feminine feel, there was also a minimalist, modern edge with the inclusion of sleek capes and champagne-coloured pieces. The ever-popular ombre trend was represented on the hemline of a strapless, bustled gown and embellishments adorned not only the sheer necklines and overlays of the gowns, they also provided sparkle and texture to the collection’s veils. The range of textures, cuts and necklines in the Monique Lhuillier Spring 2014 collection -- from dazzling peplums and explosions of tulle to sleek tailored silhouettes perfect for city hall – prove that the designer knows how to marry classic glamour with cutting-edge contemporary style.
