When designing their latest collection, Marchesa designers Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig sought to explore the ethereal side of spring. Soft, cascading layers of elegant sheer tulle, faille, organza and lace took centre stage within the Spring 2016 collection while the designers added romance and drama with elaborate floral and glittering embellishments, emphasizing the collection's spring theme.
Other embellishments introduced a more regal feel with the use of crystal and metallic detailing, which was featured on a jaw-dropping, sleek, short sleeve gown with a tulle overlay skirt and a stunning pearl and silver illusion neckline. Intricate beaded lace, bows, feathered flowers and 3D fabric petals also rounded out the collection’s spring inspiration and complemented the models’ sparkling statement headpieces.
Although each design proved show-stopping from the front, the back detailing was equally lavish. Highlighting Chapman and Craig’s eye for extravagantly styled backs were two striking looks, which featured an ultra-feminine illusion keyhole designs adorned with gleaming petals, and a charming lace number with delicate button accents.
