Lose 10 lbs. in 10 Seconds!

Lose 10 lbs. in 10 Seconds!

It’s true, you can look like you have lost 10 lbs. in 10 seconds, and it’s as easy as going for a bra fitting and finding out what size you really wear. I did just that last week at the opening of CHANGE (change.com) in Toronto, a European chain of lingerie boutiques, and I walked out looking smaller and walking taller than I have in months. Thanks to my Scottish heritage, one could say that I’m definitely a robust girl, blessed with a curvy figure and an ample bustline that certainly needs the perfect-fitting bra to showcase the girls in style. I found it at CHANGE.

Lose 10 lbs. in 10 Seconds!

Offering everything from bra and panty sets (bras range from sizes A to J) to wedding night lingerie (they have a gorgeous wedding collection!) and custom-fit swimwear, CHANGE has something for everyone. As an engaged woman, you, of course, will be stepping out to all kinds of events where you need to glam it up and look your best—a new and proper-fitting bra is definitely in order. Before you even go dress shopping, it’s essential to shop for your underthings first, so that when you slip into your dream dress you can know exactly how it’s going to fit. I asked the experts at CHANGE for some tips about bras that most women don’t know—here’s their top five.

  1. Get fitted every time you shop. Most of us wear the wrong bra size. Your bra should fit snugly around your ribcage, not ride up at the back, have strap slippage, or the worst sin, “cup runneth over.” You don’t have to get naked to get fitted, but you do have to strip down to your bra and have yourself measured to determine your size. It’s quick, easy, painless and most of all, exciting. When you slip on a model fit for you, you will see how much better you look in your clothes!
  1. Wear your bra on the first hook. Not the second or third. As your bra breaks in the fabric will relax, then you can move a hook or two in, as you need to tighten the fit.
  1. Wash your smalls regularly. You should wash your bra after every two wears! The body’s natural oils and sweat get into the fabric and start to break down elasticity. Keep it clean and it will last longer.
  1. Buy two pairs of underwear per bra. This means that you can have a matching set for the requisite two wears, then everything gets tossed into the handwash cycle.
  1. Don’t get hung up on size. Get hung up on fit. Thought you were a 36C but you measure out at a 34E? Don’t balk at the size until you try it on. I guarantee you will look tinier in the bigger size than you did in the smaller one that didn’t fit you!
