There’s a certain innocence to Lihi Hod’s designs. The Israeli designer has quickly become known internationally for her dreamy, delicate touch. Hod’s fall 2018 collection plays into that sense of purity, while adopting a sensual, lingerie-like feel. Titled “A Whiter Shade of Pale”, the collection sticks to a monochromatic palette of all white, and the designer cites simplicity as its ultimate inspiration.
Soft fabrics accented with feminine ruffles and frills contribute to the vintage boudoir dressing vibe. The delicately draped eyelash lace gown with fluttering cap sleeves shimmers with quiet sequins. A ruffled peplum hems a strapless bustier with exposed boning. Alternating tiers of lace and chiffon play with shadow and light. Accessories, too, have a classical feel. A translucent wrap top with cropped bell sleeves and frayed edges serves as a modest cover up. A veil with circlet of beaded flowers can be fastened, bonnet-like, by knotting its soft silk ties below the chin.
An equal measure of contemporary details provides a balanced counterpoint to the vintage reverie. A look of bridal separates matches high-waisted, pleated trousers with a ruched, knotted top with a single shoulder strap. A long-sleeved, beaded lace dress is complemented with a faux notched-lapel collar, reminiscent of a tailored suit jacket. The neckline of a sharp off-the-shoulder gown followed the gentle curve of the collarbone for an updated, more angular take on the sweetheart.
