Sportswear is an obvious influence for Justin Alexander this season: the show’s opening look, a polo-tee-turned-wedding-dress with lace mermaid skirt, is the ultimate preppy pick. A strapless tulle ball gown is also offset with a matching tulle bomber jacket. Another ball gown, this one in luxe matte satin, stars a stream of crystal buttons all the way down the center front.
More traditional details, like intricate vintage-inspired beading and contemporary lace appliqués, find their way onto swishy fit-and-flares and soft A-line gowns. On the whole, however, the collection is pared down, with simplicity making a statement of elegance. Unadorned silk crepe puddles into curvaceous fit and flare silhouettes. Weighty satin is pleated and left bare. Organza is gathered and draped in voluminous shapes.
Veils are forgone in favour of statement making earrings and the occasional cape. The latter are delicate and light— one high-low version in a single layer of tulle is embellished with fluttering floral appliqués; the other, a sweep of chiffon worn off the shoulder, is banded with beaded lace trim.
