Kate Halfpenny’s fall 2020 collection was inspired by an abandoned bird’s nest that she found in her garden. Halfpenny was entranced by how a bird was able to create a beautifully intricate nest using only it’s beak. Drawing inspiration from mother nature, she named the collection "Songbird." Halfpenny uses fabric scraps to create minute details within her designs—much like a bird uses whatever materials it can find to construct their homes.
The collection features bold and graphic lines, juxtaposed with soft, floaty fabrics and trim. Skirts pillow and fold elegantly amongst themselves—creating a flowy dream-like effect as Halfpenny experiments with different gown silhouettes. Some dresses include sheer fabric with trimmings of white flowers that elevate the entire look. One element that Halfpenny uses in most of her designs is a tube-top-like bodice for a more refined and classic bridal look.
