Golden Girls

  |   By Nicole Keen

Obviously, I have to start this week’s entry by dishing about my favourite looks from the Academy Awards: Penelope Cruz, Natalie Portman and Marisa Tomei are definitely at the top of my list for best-dressed of the evening.

For more deets on their crush-worthy ensembles, check out “Red-Carpet Rundown.” Hollywood’s most stylish starlets provided plenty of inspiration for your aisle style from dazzling jewels to voluminous ballgowns with many leading ladies choosing white as their colour of choice. But let’s talk about your very own supporting cast for a moment: bridesmaids. The red carpet is also a great place to find ideas for your girls. Portman’s gorgeous gown in the perfect shade of pink is an amazing option. Bridesmaids’ style has drastically changed over the past several years (insert sigh of relief here!). Gone are the days of oversized puff sleeves and uncomfortable heavy satin fabrics. Up-to-the-minute bridesmaids’ dresses are effortlessly chic with a sense of ease and movement à la Portman. Plus, the Grecian goddess look couldn’t be hotter! Strapless gowns are always classic, but why not outfit your girls in one-shoulder dresses? I personally love the idea of dressing your bridesmaids in different necklines and silhouettes (identical outfits are totally passé), which is why I was so thrilled when I received a press release about cyber shopping site cocomyles.com. My fave feature enables you to completely customize each bridesmaid’s dress. You can select necklines, skirt styles, colours and fabrics! Another great thing about Coco Myles? They also offer affordable (gasp!) celeb-inspired gowns, so your girls can channel Angelina, Kate and Cameron while walking you down the aisle. And let’s not leave you out of the equation: don’t you need a slinky little number to change into for the reception? Two dresses in one night…it doesn’t get more Hollywood than that!

Who do you think ruled the red carpet this awards season? What are your bridesmaids wearing on the big day? I can’t wait to hear what looks you think are hot (and not!).
