Inspired by the beauty and culture of Portugal, Galia Lahav’s fall 2019 bridal couture collection continues to showcase the Israeli designer’s whimsical sensibilities and feminine charm. Using the country’s rich history as the backdrop for this collection, even its name (Alegria, meaning happiness in Portuguese) evokes a feeling of romance that’s fit for the dreamiest of weddings.
This season new necklines were introduced, like the fitted sweetheart bodices that have been updated with an off-the-shoulder voluminous sheer sleeve. Brides can also play with proportion this season through the addition of removable skirts to completely transform the shape and feel of a slim trumpet gown.
Illusion lace continues to be a trend that ties the collection together, done in intricate florals that trail vine-like along the arms and backs of dresses. For a twist on this trend look to the Amani, a stunning gown that features delicate floral lace straps that lead to a dramatic exposed back and a plunging deep V in the front. Another standout look is the Magdalena, a shimmering bustier-style ballgown with a thigh-high slit for undeniable sex appeal.
