There was no shortage of drama and opulence in Galia Lahav’s extravagant Fall 2016 collection. Inspired by the fairytale imagery of medieval princesses, Lahav showcased an array of lavish designs in both an haute couture line and a ready-to-wear collection entitled Gala. Stunning floral embellishments, luxurious fabrics and decadent hand-beaded crystals complemented the designs’ romantic, figure-hugging silhouettes, which gave the collection a delicate yet sultry aura. Sheer ornate skirts embellished with dazzling beadwork and exquisite appliques paired beautifully with fluttering, ethereal organza trains. Italian ivory lace overlays and embroidery also added to the collection’s sumptuous medieval motif. Daring necklines and backs as well as translucent-panel bodices provided just the right amount of allure, while still staying true to the collection’s regal inspiration. Capping off Lahav’s luxurious haute couture line were dramatic jewel-encrusted headpieces and crowns, some embodying animal influences such as colossal antlers and black feathers. Brides in search of a bold yet ethereal look will adore Lahav’s closing number: a Greek-inspired empire waist gown complete with an illusion neckline, billowing skirt, gold accents and a sheer, hooded, detachable cape.
