Galia Lahav’s inspiration this season comes from an unlikely source: The world of perfumery. The Israeli designer developed "a fascination with the process of selecting each bud, petal, herb and leaf to create the perfect fragrance." But how does one take the elusive medium of scent, and transform it into a means of visual expression like fashion? "Envisioning the invisible leads to fantasy," she explains, "and visions of a mystical night garden where rare florals bloom and the world's finest scents come to life slowly evolved." This abstract inspiration manifests as an ethereal, layered collection of gowns constructed with gossamer tulles, fine laces and intricate embroidery.
The styling this season is sweetly feminine. A diaphanous sequined lace and organza robe is wrapped at the waist with a satin ribbon tied in a bow. A gauzy A-line gown patterned with lily-like flowers dips delicately off the shoulders into a plunging sweetheart neckline. The movement of the gowns adds to their beauty as much as the fabrics and cuts themselves. An airy tulle gown with a soft halter neckline is hemmed just above the ankles, allowing the full, tiered skirt to sway as the model walks. Strands of glimmering beads dangle flapper-like from a midi-length lace shift, which somehow maintains its transparency through its heavy embellishments. Each gown is truly dreamier than the last.
