For Fall 2018, Galia Lahav sought intangible inspiration in the senses. While her couture line focused on scent and fragrance, the GALA collection took on rhythm, bringing “symphony of sounds to life” through free flowing fabrics and plenty of shimmer. “Inspired by music's many genres and icons," the collection is a romantic take on 70's glam.
Swathes of chiffon and a wrap-style gown look vaguely Halston-esque. Sparkling silver star motifs appear throughout, and intricate laces are used to dreamy effect. A frilled off-the-shoulder gown of made up of softly gathered chiffon cut into uneven tiers and bunched up into short puffed sleeves looks a bit like a vintage nightgown, in the best possible way. Fluttering sleeves and capelets dance on the models’ shoulders.
The layers of an orchestral ensemble are interpreted as layers of delicate fabrics. Delicate lace peeks out from under gathered tiers of Swiss dot. A translucent cover up—trimmed in lustrous pewter ribbons encircling the jewel neckline and petite bell sleeve cuffs—adds a unique and diaphanous dimension worn over a minimalist sheath accented with silver crystal embellishments. An asymmetrical gown wrapped in pink quartz tinted tulle hid glittering undulations of crystalline beading beneath.
