If you’re seeking dreamy gowns with a contemporary bent, look no further than this collection from Colombian designer Francesca Miranda. Her expertly coordinated mix of fabrics and textures combine to deliver a line up of dresses that are both clean-lined and soft. Many looks make use of layered fabrics to create a game of peekaboo, with delicate lace cups laid beneath the softly gathered tulle of the deep-V bodice of one dress, and hand-embroidered sequin tulle obscuring the lace lining of another’s slim skirt. A two-piece take on the bridal pantsuit pairs skinny crepe pants under a 3-D floral appliquéd strapless corset top that flares into a dramatic sweeping train at the back.
Removable tulle peplum “tutus” are the accessory of choice, billowing out from waists of a corseted ballgown (with a spray of tulle frill around the neckline that mimics the flare of the overskirt) and a peau-de-soie trumpet gown (with an edgy cutout bodice detail.) Shimmering ribbons are another option which take the place of bridal belts, crisscrossing around gowns and encircling the models’ ribcages for a cinched in look.
