Fall Beauty, Part 1

  |  By Alison McGill
Fall Beauty, Part 1

I love the cooler weather and in my opinion, this is the perfect time of year to get married. It’s not too hot, not too cold, AND it’s the best beauty time of the year, too. This fall in particular is a stellar beauty season, with so many gorgeous trends to choose from—have you chosen the one you’re going to wear come your W-day? Just in case you haven’t, I’m here to help.

Fall Beauty, Part 1

Today, the focus is on eyes. Liner and shadow are both big for fall, used to create an eye that’s either clean and classic, or subtly smoky. When it comes to liner, a liquid formula is the key tool for creating the biggest runway look: the “cat’s eye.” To create the look, keep lids bare save a swoop of expertly applied liner along the top lashes, finished with a flick at the outer corner. A few coats of waterproof black mascara on the top lashes and voila…you’ll look like a Hollywood glamour girl. When it comes to shadow, slate grey is the colour du jour. The most wedding-friendly way to wear it? Apply a light layer of shadow on the upper lid only, with the colour being darkest at the lash line, blended to a soft, shimmery tone on the brow bone. Katherine Heigl wore this look at the recent Emmy Awards, pairing her pretty grey-shadowed eyes with gorgeous red lips to create a look that’s classic yet modern; one that photographs beautifully and will never look dated. Coming Friday: pucker up to fall’s must-have lip colour.
