There was a Downton Abbey wedding on the season three premiere, which aired last night (it debuted across the pond but is not coming to North American televisions until January 2013). Though we hate spoilers, we just had to know what happened as it was widely rumoured there would be a Downton Abbey wedding in which Lady Mary marries the dashing Matthew Crawley. We read the total episode recap on Daily Mail and yes indeed, there was a Downton Abbey wedding and the highlight of course was seeing the regal Lady Mary glorious in her wedding gown, which was so on the money for her 1920s affair.
For her wedding, Lady Mary wore a modest-yet-stunning gown, very reminiscent of what Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother wore when she married King George in 1923. Lady Mary’s wedding gown was a simple ivory column dress, complete with high-neck and diaphanous sheer sleeves. She capped the look off with a jeweled headband and a cathedral length veil that no doubt had amazing swoosh as she descended Downton Abbey’s famous staircase. Now, can 2013 just hurry up and get here so we can watch the Downton Abbey wedding and the rest of season three?!
