It was the artistry of hairdressing that pulled me into the beauty business. I love working with my clients to create an amazing look for them be it a killer blowout, amazing hair cut or styling them for those ultra-special, personal moments like their wedding day. Lately I’ve been playing a lot with accessories in my wedding looks and I think it gives hair a glamourous, timeless but modern vibe. Adorning hair is such a beautiful and magical way of taking great hair and making it even more epic. These are a few things I am currently loving to dress up wedding hair!
Rings Bling doesn’t just belong on your finger! Rings actually make for an amazing updo accessory. Some of my favourite ways to way rings in the hair are fastened along the seam of a sleek French roll; affixed in clusters around a chignon; sprinkled around a messy bun or updo to create sparkle. Costume pieces or family heirlooms work equally well and they key to success is ensuring your stylist anchors the pieces firmly in place.
Necklaces Adorning upswept styles with statement necklaces has been a huge trend on the red carpet. They can be woven and strung through an updo and work particularly well with updos that are twisted and organic feeling. This is a great option for both glamourous brides and more boho styles too.
Brooches Every major fashion runway for the past few seasons has featured brooches and barrettes; I really love the look of brooches in wedding hair worn loose and lovely. Pin back one side of hair and have your stylist place one or two statement pieces in for a statement style. Because brooches lie flat they are very easy to work with and firmly fasten in hair. Look for pieces with personality and of course some gorgeous glitz! The more sparkle the better.
