Emmy-Inspired Citrus Coloured Gowns For Your Bridesmaids

  |   By Nicole Keen

Citrus coloured gowns---think lemon yellow, lime green and orange frocks---are definitely having a moment. If you tuned into Sunday's Emmy Awards, you couldn't help noticing that the red carpet was a refreshing sea of brights. Instead of tried-and-true black, celebrity trend-setters like Julianne Moore, Ginnifer Goodwin, Julia Bowen and Leslie Mann chose bold, zesty citrus coloured gowns for the big event. These starlets looked so fresh and fabulous that we couldn't help thinking this would be a great trend to try for your bridesmaids. Need more persuasion that citrus coloured gowns are the right choice for your girls? Pantone recently announced that citrus colours like Lemon Zest (bright yellow), Tender Shoots (bright green) and Nectarine (bright orange) are tops for Spring 2013, and paint company Benjamin Moore picked Lemon Sorbet as the Colour of the Year for 2013. There are plenty of ways to make citrus coloured gowns work for your bridal party. You can pick one hue (everyone in yellow), mix up the shades (one bridesmaid in yellow, another in green, another in orange), or choose shades within one colour family (one bridesmaid in pale orange, another in dark orange, etc.). The effect is cheerful, preppy and playful---perfect for a spring or summer soiree. Plus, citrus coloured gowns translate extremely well in photos -- whether it's on the red carpet in your wedding photos. Start your wedding planning by checking out our favourite citrus-coloured gowns from the Emmy Awards as well as some stylish options for your bridesmaids.
