An intimate showing, just two other journalists and me, at Reem Acra was the perfect way to get acquainted with her latest collection. Large-scale runway shows are fabulous and exciting, but it can sometimes be hard to take in each and every look, and there can be plenty of distraction: music, flashbulbs, people-watching...Up close and personal is how Acra's exquisite creations and jaw-dropping details truly shine. Not to mention that she and her adorable pint-size Maltese, Lou Lou (who loves a good belly rub, by the way), made me feel right at home in their Fifth Avenue showroom. I've decided to share five of my favourite dresses with you today, but honestly, they were all divine. I'm simply smitten with the aptly named "Love is in the Air" gown (pictured left), which is the prettiest shade of peach, and pastels were everywhere during the shows (my reviews of Oscar de la Renta and Carolina Herrera are still to come!). "I Am the One and Only" features the chic lingerie-inspired details that were a thread throughout the collection. "Do You Love Me?" and "I Adore You" both have "detachable" parts, which is genius for brides who want two looks in one. The skirt of "Do You Love Me?" can be removed to show off some leg, while the embellished T-shirt worn with "I Adore You" can be taken off to reveal a simply stunning strapless neckline. Lastly, "I Am Blown Away" showcases the effortless draping and embroidery that we've come to expect from Acra's gorgeous gowns. This airy creation would be oh-so-pretty for a beachside ceremony.
