Atelier Pronovias started out as a family business in Barcelona in 1922, and has since grown to have a staggering international presence, available in more than 100 countries. For its 2018 collection, designer Hervé Moreau worked with organza, crepe, soft satin and French lace to create a collection of dresses with grace and confidence.
Each gown is blessed with its own wow-factor detail. A mermaid gown encrusted with swirls of beading blooms with ostrich feathers as the train flares. A strapless column of wallpaper-esque damask lace is accessorized with a split-sleeve cape. A crepe mermaid gown with an illusion back is adorned with bejeweled epaulets and hip accents.
Even the more minimalist gowns have surprise details. A seemingly simple corseted A-line gains interest from delicate frilled trim along the sweetheart neckline and fluted ruffles hidden in the flowing organza skirt. A bias cut satin sheath pools into an elongated train. A crepe sheath is streamlined in the front, but reveals a fully lace back and train when the model makes her exit.
The collection’s most memorable showstopper? An over-the-top creation consisting of a torrent of strands of clear beads and crystals, dangling from every inch of an illusion mermaid gown.
