How to wear that hair? Ponytails, updos, chignons, long waves, braids—they’re all amazing bridal options and the look you chose will depend a lot on your dress style and your personal style. A few weeks back I asked Eric Del Monaco, official hair artist and colourist for L’Oreal Paris for his wedding hair dos and don’ts. I also asked him to share his favourite wedding styles of the moment. “These looks I’ve selected are current and easy to achieve, yet provide stunning results,” Del Monaco shares. “It is important to remember when selecting a style that it makes you feel confident and beautiful and one that you will love when you look at your wedding photos in the years to come.” Here’s Del Monaco’s three style picks.
1. The Structured Chignon. “My current favourite wedding day hairstyle is definitely that of the ‘other’ princess —Charlene Wittstock—who recently married Prince of Albert Monaco. I absolutely loved her hair look and overall bridal look. It was a very structured chignon adorned with beautiful, jeweled hair accessories. I would recommend looking to Charlene for inspiration but think of making the chignon a little more loose and wavy. The result would be a beautiful, soft and highly textured romantic look. Also consider beautiful hair accessories like jeweled brooches, pins or head-bands to dress up hair and add a hit of glamour.”
2. A Textured Updo. “Another bridal hair look that I absolutely love was Michael Buble’s wife, Luisana Lopilato. For the couple’s second wedding, her hair was piled very high on top of her head and featured lots of texture with big, beautiful curls. This style is definitely making a comeback and I couldn’t be more thrilled as a stylist! It’s a classic and looks stunning on all women. It works very well with mid-length to long-hair.”
3. Goddess Waves. “Luisana also sported another of my favourite hair looks for her first wedding to Michael in Argentina with a long, wavy down-do that is reminiscent of Old Hollywood glam. It featured soft waves and added a feel of old-world romance to her bridal style. Eva Longoria also wore a similar style on her wedding day."
