Floral motifs and bridal fashion obviously go hand in hand but for the year ahead designers are taking this idea to the next level. We’re talking about 3D floral appliques that are just exploding off dresses and really transforming the gowns into textural works of art. Designers like Marchesa chose to go all out with this 2017 wedding dress trend by adding the blooms to skirts and necklines, while Monique Lhuillier and Pronovias opted for more minimal eye-catching floral embellishments.
Pronovias, typically known for their use of lace, jumped on the 3D floral trend with the introduction of their Nagore wedding gown. While the dress itself was sleek and minimal, the addition of raised, laser-cut floral pieces from shoulder to hip allowed this modern wedding gown to pop.
For spring 2017, Romona Keveza strayed from traditional white in favour of a beautiful purple ombré ballgown. In keeping with the 3D floral trend, she artfully placed beautiful textured blooms throughout the bottom of the skirt.
Known for her romantic wedding dresses, Monique Lhuillier stayed true to her classic aesthetic with this gorgeous A-line frock adorned with peach, pink and white blossoms.
For his take on this 2017 wedding dress trend, Indian-American designer Naeem Khan combined floral embroidery and 3D floral appliques.
