Once again Vera Wang shocks and mesmerizes with gowns that are a sheer delight. With French boudoir sensibilities, the whispered details of the collection include silk flowers, pleated ribbons and French tulle skirts, with dresses styled with visible matching lace bra and panties. Although feminine and beautiful, the collection is naughty in an obvious way. Building off of her Spring 2015 line, the gowns this time around are even more daring with deeper V necklines and lighter layers of tulle. Taking inspiration from lingerie styles, the collection leaves nothing to the imagination. Hand-embroidered crystals are delicate, and gowns are cinched with bow belts and black accents. For the more modest bride, there are gowns that are less revealing, such as the beautiful, black, A-line ostrich feather gown or the minimalistic bra top mermaid gown.
In its entirety the collection is risqué and edgy, while remaining modern and romantic in true Vera Wang fashion. The flowing dresses are light and fragile, like a distant dream. The collection is inspired by the elusiveness and subtle beauty of Spain, as introduced by the short video ‘Hotel Madrid’, created by Vera Wang and directed by Gordon Von Steiner.
