Lynnsey and Michael’s romantic engagement took place during a camping trip in Iceland. “We had been camping around the island for 10 days, with Mike keeping the ring in his windbreaker pocket,” Lynnsey says. “On the second-to-last day of the trip, Mike popped the question in front of Gullfoss waterfall outside of Reykjavik.”
For their wedding, the couple opted to avoid a particular set of colours. “While we didn’t want to restrict ourselves to a colour theme, in the interest of keeping it fresh and eclectic, we incorporated subtle undertones of white, blue and pops of orangey-pink,” Lynnsey explains. “The flowers were done by one of our closest friends, Vicki Surplice, which made them extra meaningful. We didn’t want anything to look overly coordinated, and she did a great job of capturing the unscripted look we wanted.”
To pay homage to Mike’s Indian background, they included traditional elements in their day. Mike gifted a sari to Lynnsey, which she wore to the reception.
Among the best moments of the day included the couple’s first look and walking down the aisle. “There was a lot of anticipation for this moment,” she says. “Once we were hand-in-hand at the altar, we both felt an immediate sense of comfort.”
The pair chose “Lucky Man” by Courtney John to dance to at the reception. “We first heard the song while out for dinner, and immediately looked at one another confirming that the song had potential,” Lynnsey says. “With the wedding taking place in the balmy days of late summer in a semi-open-air vintage garage that serves street food, we wanted something fun and casual that captured that summer feel.”
