Jennifer and Mike were engaged on a trip to Yosemite National Park in California while they were snow camping. “We hiked Mist Trail to Vernal Falls,” Jennifer recalls. “Once we hit the falls, we propped up our camera on self-timer for a quick portrait. That’s when Mike quickly got on one knee and opened a small wooden box. He was so nervous and cold he didn’t even ask me to marry him! Instead, I asked him, ‘Aren’t you going to ask me to marry you?’ He replied, ‘Oh, yeah!’ It was a special and cute moment that I will never forget.”
With a destination wedding taking place in the Canadian Rocky Mountains, the couple picked a rustic theme to go with the stunning setting. The groom and groomsmen’s attire complemented it perfectly, consisting of tweed suits with vests and boots. To contrast with some glam, Jennifer chose a stunning gown and beautiful florals. “My gown had a beautiful beaded rhinestone top and a layered tulle bottom, while the amazing bouquets were the most dreamy textures and colours,” Jennifer says. “The rustic-glam combination made me feel like a mountain princess.” Jennifer finished off her look with heeled hiking boots.
One of the best parts of the day for the pair was the first look, which took place before the ceremony. “Seeing Mike for the first time that day was amazing. It was just such a happy moment for so many reasons; seeing the love of my life standing in front of me with a HUGE smile on his face, dressed up in wedding attire, in a different country, was amazing!” Jennifer shares. “Spending time with each other before the wedding was just so special for us. We were both so nervous, so this time let us enjoy what we love so much—the mountains, and each other.”
