Didi and Garrett filled their wedding day with whimsical, rustic details, and incorporated more traditional elements into their ceremony.
“We personalized the wedding by DIYing a lot of details and skipped a few traditions to make it more ‘us’ rather then what was expected,” Didi says. “The only religious tradition we stuck with was getting married in a church. Not only did it mean a lot to us, it meant a lot to our families as well.”
It was important for Didi and Garrett to let the beauty of their venues speak for themselves. “Our church is a charming historic building, on the modest size in terms of size, with beautiful stained glass windows. The only decor we brought into the church were two large flower arrangements for behind the priest,” Didi says. “The reception venue was a lovely golf course with exposed beams, and floor to ceiling windows overlooking a patio, serene pond with swans swimming about, and surrounded by greenery.”
Blush pink and creamy white flowers and décor, twinkling candles and gold chandeliers added romance to the exposed beams in their rustic reception space. “Our flowers were just gorgeous—I was so in love with my bouquet,” Didi shares. “We really put our trust in our vendor with the flowers as it was something we knew nothing about.”
For Didi, the best moment was the couple’s first dance. “Our ceremony and reception were both indoors, but for our first dance we went outside down the stone steps to a lower area by the water,” she recalls. “Our guests surrounded us with lit sparklers and created a circle of light around us. ”
