A Parisian Garden Wedding In Vancouver

a parisian garden wedding in vancouver - bride and groom

Every hopeless romantic dreams of getting married in Paris, after all, it is the city of love. But when you can’t have a wedding in Paris, you bring Paris to yours. And that’s exactly what Rita Lo and Hanford Chan did.

Their Parisian themed wedding was inspired by their proposal, which happened on top of the Eiffel Tower on Rita’s birthday. “Hanford made a reservation at Le Jules Verne and waited till midnight of my birthday to pop the question. It was too perfect of a moment,” Rita shares.

The wedding was filled with dusty rose, lavender, cream and green details. The garland centrepiece for their reception was filled with peonies, which are usually not in season by late June or July. “I was lucky to have caught the last batch of peonies of the year,” Rita says. The garden where they had their ceremony, which Rita describes as “a hidden gem,” was the perfect venue to complement the floral theme, with its lush greenery.

A proud moment for the bride was designing the R&H backdrop. From going to Home Depot and cutting the PVC pipes, to spray painting, designing the logo, sourcing and sewing the tulle curtains, everything was done by Rita herself. “It was not an easy task and I thought of giving up half way,” she says.

In the end, the backdrop worked perfectly for their pictures. “It also helped to shield our wedding table from harsh sunlight during our reception dinner,” Rita adds. “It was both beautiful and practical.”
