A Seaside Wedding in Indian Harbour, Nova Scotia

After years of crossing paths and innocent flirting, Laura and Stephen’s friendship grew to something more on her 20th birthday, and they’ve been together ever since.

Laura and Stephen didn’t have a traditional engagement story – the couple discussed marriage and picked out a ring together. “Everyone always asked ‘how did he propose?’ and I felt like I had to let them down by explaining that I picked out my own ring,” explains Laura. “Over the years I always felt a little disappointed that I never got to have that amazing engagement story to tell friends and family and I jokingly told Stephen that I wouldn’t marry him unless he actually proposed.” Fast forward to a week before the wedding was set to take place. The couple was enroute to Nova Scotia and stopped overnight in Riviere de’Loup, Quebec. While taking a sunset stroll along the St. Lawrence river, Stephen got down on one knee. “He explained that I was his princess and deserved to have that amazing proposal story and he was sorry it took so long to happen. He presented me with a beautiful necklace in a glass slipper and I immediately broke down into tears. I could not have been happier. Better late than never!” says Laura.

The couple both grew up on the east coast and choose a quaint oceanside venue near Peggy’s Cove for their wedding, which reflected the natural scenery with its whitewashed furniture and exposed rustic beams reminiscent of Martha’s Vineyard. The couple said their vows outdoors beside the ocean then guests were treated to a reception filled with sweet DIY details.
