Nikki and Jon’s path to the altar was anything but traditional. “There was no official proposal, Nikki explains. “We mutually decided that we were going to spend the rest of our lives together and picked a date.”

The couple took their non-traditional approach a step further and treated themselves to a pre-honeymoon in Bali for a month before their wedding.

The couple’s big day was equally as unique. “We love to cook and entertain and aimed to make our wedding ‘the most epic dinner party’ possible,” says Nikki. “We kept the ceremony short and sweet and the traditions to a minimum.” Nikki says one of her favourite wedding details was the food at her celebration. “Jon and I love to cook and appreciate really good food,” she explains. “The food we served at the wedding was a reflection of how we like to eat.”

Nikki and Jon’s wedding also featured stand-out floral details, which added to the romantic ambiance. Antique furniture overflowing with blooms filled the couple’s venue and rose petals lined the ceremony aisle. “I love peonies and I basically told my florists, Rook & Rose, about the flowers I liked and let them go wild,” says Nikki. “I never pictured the beautiful spectacle that they created.”

“Some of the best advice someone gave me was to create a day that is about the two of you and don’t worry about anyone else,” shares Nikki. “As much as I refused to believe that a wedding would change the way you feel about your partner, I can now say it does. It makes everything more real.”
