When it came time for Benji to pop the question he knew he wanted to do something over the top for Mara. “I was kidnapped with no phone and only a videographer with me and sent for a manicure and pedicure,” explains Mara. “Then I was whisked away to a beautiful suite at a popular hotel downtown. When I got there, there was a new dress and shoes on the bed. Then hair and makeup people came and got me all dolled up and my favourite champagne and sushi from a restaurant downtown was delivered. A driver then showed up and took me to a wishing well lit up with candles.” Benji was waiting there to propose and made sure the couples’ family were nearby to help toast their engagement.
The wedding that followed was equally as extravagant. The couple opted for a traditional Jewish ceremony followed by a luxurious reception at the Fort Garry Hotel, which was outfitted in a colour palette of white and gold and lit with the warm glow of candlelight.
