Wedding date: May 11, 2012

Wedding theme: Homey. “Our hope was for our guests to feel comfortable, as if they’d come to our house for the evening,” explains Michelle.

Guests: 160

Budget: $18,000

Best moment: “We left the ceremony in the rumble seat of Drew’s grandpa’s Model A car,” recalls Michelle. “After a short drive around Fort Langley, we were dropped off at an old ferry terminal. We walked down a long red dock and just kept smiling and laughing, saying to each other ‘We are married’ and ‘I am your wife’ and ‘I am your husband!’ It was magical.”

Favourite detail: “There were so many details that I loved about this day,” says Michelle. “My feathery headpiece, the flowers, the firefighter and nurse cameos, our spray painted jars and vases, the wedding photos of our parents, grandparents and great grandparents, the dessert bar…I can’t single one out!”

Wedding song: “When I Get Grown” by Treelines. “It’s impossible for us to listen to this song without smiling at each other,” says Michelle. “The lyrics are so lovely, real, adorable and hopeful.”
